Finally there is a decent app for blogging on mobile

Ok, Comcast failed me again today, and I am starting to smell something fishy about it.

At around 11am Comcast cable TV (and subsequentially, the cable internet) “disappeared” on me.  No signal at all, just like being switched off.  And it has been more than 5 hours now, still nothing.  I called around 12pm and get an automatic message saying the network in my area is experiencing technical difficulty, their technicians is working on it…

The funny thing is, the exact same thing happens 2 times last month, the previous time I can remember was on June 19 (still on my cell phone call log… hmm, yeah I don’t call much nowadays)  and it looks like it will be taking about the same amount of time to fix it this time… it was fixed around 7:30pm last outage.

What is the possibility for this to happen though?  All 3 occurrence happened when I decided to work from home, and all 3 occurrence happened around noon, and didn’t get fixed until hours later… coincident?  I think NOT!

One more time, Comcast, I will fire you.

Yes, I haven’t got a chance to talk about my honey’s pregnancy.  Isn’t it crazy?  She is more than three months pregnant now, and has gone through a rather peaceful 1st trimester.  However, ever since 2 weeks ago, she started to have a higher tendency on morning sickness, and even worse, itchy skin.  It is not the typical itch, she gets rashes and small bumps all over her waist, belly, chest, and further up to a portion of her neck; and the itch is very unbearable, as I know Kristie wouldn’t give up bearing the itch if it is tolerable.  We did some search around the web and seems like some population on the web has experienced this and it is known to be “PUPPP” (Pruritic Urticarial Papules and Plaques of Pregnancy)

We found Naomi’s article to be very helpful, but the common suggested solution, being “Grandpa’s Pine Tar Soap,” is not available on any of the four local pharmacies, we could only order it online.  We called Kristie’s OBGYN medical center, which has a urgent care hot line opened on the weekends, and they paged the on-call doctor to contact us within 10 minutes.  The doctor said she found this symptom to be rare and suggested Kristie to take Benadryl and/or Benadryl Cream 2%, which makes Kristie really hesitant as she insists a drug-free pregnancy…  She is now asleep, but not sure how long she could be asleep.  I’ve left the Benadryl on her night table just in case…

Long ago, there was a IBM T43p.  She is very smart, and does things quite reliably, but she cannot do too many things at once, and she does not look very pretty, so her owner trade her in for a Macbook Pro.  The Macbook Pro was indeed very shiny, and she can run things much faster in parallels.  The owner was happy, and he learned quite a bit about the Macbook Pro.  It was a lovely journey, and they both had a lot of fun, but the owner was a greedy one, he started seeing this petite one when the Macbook Pro stayed home.  The petite was the Lenovo X60, who was in no match with the Macbook Pro when comparing their beauty.  However, X60 is just much lighter and smaller, she was loaded with a very open-sourced mind: Linux.  The combination of these three seems to play a very exotic role in the owner’s mind.  He became obsessed with X60’s quality and they were seemed to be together in a lot of events and circumstances.  The relationship lasted again for quite some time, until the Owner is again tired of it.  Apparently, the owner thought that the X60’s open-source mind was not yet matured enough for him.  He recognized that he wanted somebody who can be ready to work with him whenever he feels like, and stop and sleep whenever he does not need her.  X60 couldn’t do it well enough; whenever he needs her, she was a little slow on getting ready, and whenever he wants her to go to sleep, she sometimes became restless.  Finally the owner made up his mind, he started to see this hot one called Macbook.  She is the beauty with the combination of a Macbook Pro and the X60.  She had both the shininess and the  lightness. And when the owner needs her, she could be there in a short delay.  She may have a slightly closed mind than the X60, but they are very similar in terms of thoughts.  Therefore, the owner and the Macbook lives happily ever after… so far.

After a long time of struggle, and a lot of luck, I finally managed to beat Guitar Hero 3 at the Medium level :-p I really wonder what kind of brain has the people who beat hard or even expert…

OpenWRT mysteriously crap out my WRTSL54GS router some how.  Wifi works perfectly, but the wired network stopped getting IP addresses.  I haven’t touched the configuration for a few days and it has been working too.  So I really don’t get it.  Restarting the server, restarting the interfaces including the bridge between eth0 and eth2 didn’t do  it either.  Also checked the dnsmasq config on X-Wrt’s page, couldn’t see any problem (haven’t really done any change to it either…)  and I tried to set a static IP address for the wired machine but that didn’t cut it either.  So I did something stupid, and updated the firmware over wireless (considered only Wifi connected hosts works.)  That completely messes up and Wifi is not working either.

Completely bewildered, I then hold down to the factory reset button in desperation for 30 sec.   That did it.  Everything went back to Linksys’s default settings (with their firmware too) and my home network is back to happiness.  Weird, weird day.

Just downloaded the OpenWRT firmware with the X-Wrt’s web interface and flushed my good old Linksys WRTSL54GS. I am completely amazed by the capability of my router now! I realized that I have been only using its bare minimum functionality… This firmware can do PPPoE, Access Point, Ad-doc, Wifi, DHCP, OpenVPN, PPTP, UPnP, QoS, and even Astrisk!

New Year’s resolution: learn all the networking with the new firmware, learn Python, re-learn Java… it’s gonna be a fun year!

A year is coming to an end, and there are just too much in my mind to talk about.  So I decided to just spit out all the words into the clouds below:

My laptop sits silently at the foot of my bed, my iPhone was tossed sloppily on top of stacks of magazines, which were never read since they arrived. The Wii, which I had so passionately fancied playing RE4, DDR, and GH3 is scrambled at the corner of the living room, motionless, with the Wii-mote and Numchucks laying lifeless next to it. The room is dim, filled with the mere sunlight of dusk sipped in through the window. The courtyard presents with a post-war scent of darkness, the untouchable chill flow around the air, none can prevent the thought of the ghosts awaiting at the shading corners. The bikes I bought months ago sitting at the backyard, grieving for the rusts that started to grow all over it.

And where am I? I have been reading Harry Potter, all seven of them since my dear wife gave me a set for my birthday in September.

We got a Wii bundle from eBay with two sets of controllers and it cost a whopping $375… even though though this is still considered a good deal for this hot commodity right now.

Played all 14 mini games (Wii Sports, Wii Play) for the whole night with kristie, it’s awesomely fun, although my gamer cell is begging inside of me to play a more complicated game, such as Super Paper Mario.. Interestingly, Wii only has standard AV out… not even S-video or Component.  I guess this is indeed a party machine that meant to make things a bit routy~
